Motivation Monday: Don't Give Into the Negative Challenge

Motivation Monday: Rise and Sweat Challenge

Each Monday, we're rolling out a new challenge to change the way you think, act, do, or feel. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be motivated to try something different for a week. And if you love it, keep it going!

One of the best ways to kick start your metabolism is to workout first thing in the morning. Not only that, it's a great way to shake off that sleepy, drowsy feeling. However, for a lot us, waking up bright and early to workout is not only unappealing, it's often impractical. No matter what, you shouldn't be sacrificing sleep just to get your sweat on.

Here's the good news. You don't have to put in hours to get that energy boost first thing in the a.m. Even a short workout to get your blood pumping can be beneficial.

This week, we're challenging you to set your alarm for just fifteen minutes earlier than you usually wake up. After you've resisted the urge to hit the snooze button, throw on a pair of leggings and a sport tank or bra (or do it in your PJs - we won't judge) and try to get 10-15 minutes of fitness time in.

There's tons of ways you can tackle this challenge. Johnson & Johnson actually offers a free 7-minute workout app that can be customized to suit everything from the moves you like to how long you want to work out. There are also a number of fitness DVDs that specialize in 10-minute routines, or you can browse YouTube for some free options. Or you can freestyle it. Jot down a workout circuit the night before that you think will take about 10 minutes. Pinterest also has tons of ideas for short but impactful routines.

You'll be surprised at how much work you can get done in under 15 minutes - and how much sweat you can generate! Not only that but you'll enjoy a burst of caffeine-free energy, happy-making endorphins, and an increased metabolism. Get up and at 'em!

Each Monday, we're rolling out a new challenge to change the way you think, act, do, or feel. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be motivated to try something different for a week. And if you love it, keep it going!

Times change, people change. Chances are, whether you've stayed in the same city your whole life or are constantly hopping between provinces or countries, your nearest and dearest aren't all in the same place anymore. While it can be difficult to keep up with friends and family, there are some relationships worth fighting for.

Reach Out Challenge, Ever Rose Online Dress Shop

 This week, take the time to reach out to one person each day you care about that you maybe haven't touched base with lately. It can be as simple as sending them a text or an email, or something more involved - set up a video chat date, make plans to meet up, or even draft them a handwritten letter.

They'll definitely appreciate hearing from you, and it'll keep your friendship from flickering out. However you choose to contact someone, try to make the interaction personal. Don't just ask 'how are you?' Instead, ask about how their new job is going, or mention something you saw them post on social media.

This is one Motivation Monday challenge that's worth making a regular thing. If you conversation fizzles out after a bit, put a note in your calendar to touch base with that same friend a few weeks later.

Motivation Monday: Do Something Different Challenge

Each Monday, we're rolling out a new challenge to change the way you think, act, do, or feel. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be motivated to try something different for a week. And if you love it, keep it going!

This week, we encourage you to try something different every single day. That may sound obvious, since every Motivation Monday challenge is about doing things differently - but we're talking about all kinds of little shifts. Too often, we fall into habits and routines, to the point where our lives can become stale. Shaking up your routine even just a little can open you up to new things, put a spring in your step, and make you more ambitious. 

Do Something Different, be different

These shifts don't have to be monumental changes. Try to pick something simple and attainable each day. For example, you could:

- Take a different route home from work
- Wear your hair differently
- Visit a store you've never been to before
- Cook a new recipe
- Tour a new neighbourhood
- Wear a brightly coloured lipstick
- Leave your phone at home for the day

There are a million and one little changes you can make to your life that could end up having a big impact. That's what Motivation Monday challenges are all about - and this week it's up to you to freestyle what you want to try out.
