What Does 'True To Size' Mean?

At Ever Rose we typically don't define a standard size, simply because we know it can range so much from brand-to-brand. Instead, we'll put 'Fit Matters' notes on our clothing to help you understand when a garment fits a little bigger or smaller, or whether it has stretch that can give you some literal wiggle room. But of course, we have to base even those guidelines on something. So what does it mean when an item is listed as true to size? Motivation Monday: Reach Out Challenge

Each Monday, we're rolling out a new challenge to change the way you think, act, do, or feel. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be motivated to try something different for a week. And if you love it, keep it going!

Times change, people change. Chances are, whether you've stayed in the same city your whole life or are constantly hopping between provinces or countries, your nearest and dearest aren't all in the same place anymore. While it can be difficult to keep up with friends and family, there are some relationships worth fighting for.

Reach Out Challenge, Ever Rose Online Dress Shop

This week, take the time to reach out to one person each day you care about that you maybe haven't touched base with lately. It can be as simple as sending them a text or an email, or something more involved - set up a video chat date, make plans to meet up, or even draft them a handwritten letter.

They'll definitely appreciate hearing from you, and it'll keep your friendship from flickering out. However you choose to contact someone, try to make the interaction personal. Don't just ask 'how are you?' Instead, ask about how their new job is going, or mention something you saw them post on social media.

This is one Motivation Monday challenge that's worth making a regular thing. If you conversation fizzles out after a bit, put a note in your calendar to touch base with that same friend a few weeks later.

Ever Rose Canadian Style Icon: Amy Nelson

Our inaugural Canadian style icon is Amy Nelson, the Calgary-based blogger behind Amy Flying a Kite. We zeroed in on Amy's blog primarily because of her dreamy, bohemian style, coupled with her artsy approach to blogging. Favouring floaty, diaphanous dresses, feminine floral prints, and an impressive collection of hats, we love Amy's ability to pair things in a way that feels fresh, unexpected, and totally eye-catching.

Motivation Monday: Do Something Different Challenge

Each Monday, we're rolling out a new challenge to change the way you think, act, do, or feel. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be motivated to try something different for a week. And if you love it, keep it going!

This week, we encourage you to try something different every single day. That may sound obvious, since every Motivation Monday challenge is about doing things differently - but we're talking about all kinds of little shifts. Too often, we fall into habits and routines, to the point where our lives can become stale. Shaking up your routine even just a little can open you up to new things, put a spring in your step, and make you more ambitious.

Do Something Different, be different

These shifts don't have to be monumental changes. Try to pick something simple and attainable each day. For example, you could:

- Take a different route home from work
- Wear your hair differently
- Visit a store you've never been to before
- Cook a new recipe
- Tour a new neighbourhood
- Wear a brightly coloured lipstick
- Leave your phone at home for the day

There are a million and one little changes you can make to your life that could end up having a big impact. That's what Motivation Monday challenges are all about - and this week it's up to you to freestyle what you want to try out.

Motivation Monday: You Look Fabulous Compliments Challenge

Each Monday, we're rolling out a new challenge to change the way you think, act, do, or feel. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be motivated to try something different for a week. And if you love it, keep it going!

Karma is a pretty powerful force. Even if you don't believe in what goes around comes around, there's definitely a level of instant gratification when you feel all warm and fuzzy after doing something good.

This week's challenge is all about spreading the love. Each day, dole out (at least) one compliment to a friend, family member or coworker. You can even give a shout out to a stranger, if you so please.

Your kind words can be shared online, via text, or in person. And the subject of your compliment can be anything under the sun. Love a friend's post on social media? Don't just like it - take the time to leave a comment and tell them why it rocked. Think your cousin's new cropped haircut is super cute? Make a point of mentioning it to them. Did your coworker kill it in a meeting? Give them props after and tell them what you agreed with.

All too often we think about what we think of someone else, but it's pretty rare for us to consistently share it. But compliments are a fabulous way to boost your loved ones' morale, and it feels pretty darn great to make someone smile when you give one.

As a follow-up, take note of what compliments you receive this week. Jot them down in your phone or on a piece of a paper and read them each morning while you're getting ready. It's just the spirit lifter to make even the most blah, drizzly morning feel okay.
